Emergency Management works closely with state, county, and local emergency responders before and during a disaster to help safeguard the people and families of Pocahontas County. When a severe disaster strikes, Emergency Management assists with the deployment of response personnel, equipment, and supplies. A mobile command center can also be quickly deployed to ensure the residents of Pocahontas County are safe. The Emergency Management Director also oversees the Pocahontas County Emergency 911 Dispatch Center.
Following a disaster, Emergency Management works with local residents to assist with . The department assists people with filing paperwork for state and federal agencies for reimbursement as well as helps seek disaster status so federal and state funds can be dedicated to assist in disaster recovery. Additionally, the department seeks grant funding for emergency response training, equipment, and vehicles which allow emergency responders to be fully prepared and maintain the paramount objective of public safety during a disaster.
